Power Couple in Politics: Susan Nakhumicha Introduces Husband to Cherang’any Residents

Former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha made a striking public declaration of love and political partnership on Monday, formally introducing her husband, High Court advocate Benson Milimo, to Cherang’any residents in Trans Nzoia County.

Addressing a lively crowd on December 22, 2025, at her Chebarus residence in Sitatunga ward during a Christmas donation event, Nakhumicha described Milimo as her unwavering pillar of support, fully endorsing her ambitious bid to become Trans Nzoia Governor in the 2027 elections. Milimo currently serves in the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, bringing valuable political connections to the campaign.

“My husband is here with us. Before I came here, this place was deserted, but now it is always busy and full of guests from all corners of Trans. He has given me his blessing to be the third governor of this county,” Nakhumicha told the residents.

In a lighthearted moment that thrilled the crowd, she playfully teased Milimo about expanding their family while tying personal aspirations to her political agenda.

“From today onwards, I will be roasting some good groundnuts for him so that he can deliver good results. I want him to give me Mulongo and Mukhwana (twins). I will improve Chebarus Health Centre, and I want to be the first female governor to deliver there,” she quipped, blending humor with her healthcare improvement plans.

Nakhumicha outlined her administration’s key priorities, promising to transform healthcare infrastructure, revitalize agriculture, strengthen Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), and modernize Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).

“I will make sure Kitale District Hospital is back up and running; I will modernize Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital by collaborating with the National Government and make sure agriculture is working,” she pledged.

Benson Milimo expressed full support for his wife’s gubernatorial ambitions, urging Trans Nzoia residents to back her transformative vision.

“Mama Susan is development-conscious, and I know she has the capacity to transform Trans Nzoia to the next level. All we need from you is your prayers, advice, and votes come 2027,” he appealed to the crowd.

Both Nakhumicha and Milimo are senior members of the FORD Kenya party, bringing deep political networks to their collaborative ambitions. In 2022, Milimo contested the Cherang’any Constituency parliamentary seat, while Nakhumicha ran for the Trans Nzoia Woman Representative position.

Nakhumicha’s experience as a former Health Cabinet Secretary lends credibility to her healthcare promises, while her grassroots engagement strategy, demonstrated through the Christmas donation drive, underscores a campaign rooted in direct community connection.
